Zelma (Hissam) Gracey

Zelma (Hissam) Gracey grew up on Coraopolis Heights Road and remained a life-long resident of Moon Township. Born in Sewickley, PA on January 21, 1933, was one of three daughters to the late Francis and Marion Evelyn (Davis) Hissam. She passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 in the same hospital she had been born, Sewickley. Zelma was 85. Both Zelma and Harry, her husband, met in Moon Area High School and became sweethearts. Harry graduated in 1948 and Zelma in 1950. After graduation, they married. Not long after that, Harry went to serve his country in the Korean War. Upon his return to the States, Zelma and Harry started their family. They were the proud parents of two loving boys, Lon Gracey (Kelley Ingram) of Moon Township and Thomas Michael Gracey (Pam). Five adored grandchildren came along: Johnnie, Gina, Nick, Corey and Kami and two great grandsons: Tommy and Miller. On January 24, 1998, Zelma’s husband of 49 years, Harry Gracey, passed away. And on May 11, 2012, her son Thomas Michael Gracey passed. She was also preceded in death by her two sisters: Helen Smith and Frances "Sis" Schofield. Zelma was secretary at the old Moon Area High School and a member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church. She was an avid reader, loved to cook, but her greatest loves were her grandchildren who she spoiled every chance she got. A celebration of Zelma Gracey’s life will take place on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 6 PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. with Rev. Larry Mort officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name to the American Cancer Society.
