William D. "Drake" Roberts Jr., 63, of Sewickley, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019, at his home. He was born on his mother's birthday, Dec. 6, 1955, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Caroline Moody Roberts, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and William D. "Bill" Roberts, of Pittsburgh. A gifted natural athlete, he grew up skiing, played tennis, soccer and lacrosse. Since childhood, performance vehicles were a family passion, a tradition he continued throughout his life. Similar passions were literature, history and militaria. He attended Sewickley Academy, Class of '74, continuing onto Washington College in Chestertown, Md., and graduating from the University of Denver. He worked in the fields of insurance and mortgage brokerage services. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret "Maggie" Graham Roberts and her fiance, Brandon Hayes Behun, of Sewickley; sister, Caroline Roberts Wentling and her husband, Thomas "Tom" Lynch Wentling Jr., of Point Breeze, and their children, Caroline "Callie" Gilman Wentling, of Lisbon, Portugal, and Thomas "Tommy" Lynch Wentling III, of Budapest, Hungary. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, in the chapel at the Sewickley Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are by COPELAND'S.
