Virginia “Jean” Elizabeth Fusco passed away on Friday July 21, 2017 in the loving arms of her brother, Al and sister-in-law Eleanor at Sewickley Hospital. Jean was 95 years old and had just celebrated this milestone birthday surrounded by her family. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her family and they were her life, as she was theirs.
She was known for her strong work ethic and during WW II, she worked as a welder at Pressed Steel Car Co. She later met the love of her life, Bill Fusco at the Son’s of Italy in Coraopolis, and they were married November 8, 1947. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary this year. One of the highlights of their lives was building their lovely home on Coraopolis Heights Rd. where they lived from 1957-2012 when they moved to the Masonic Village in Sewickley. Jean took pride in maintaining their home, raising her children, entertaining and cooking for family and friends. Her peanut butter fingers were legendary at Pleasant View School where she worked in the school kitchen. She is survived by her husband William Fusco, Children; Bill (Kathleen) Fusco and Linda (Mike) Hackett, grandchildren Jason (Courtney) Fusco, Susanne (Smith) McAulay, Greg Hackett, Amanda Hackett, Joshua (Erica) Fusco, six great-grandchildren, Brother Albert (Eleanor) Palermo, Sister/Brother-in-law Angela (Tom) Nolfi and brother-in-law Guy Fusco. In addition to her parents, Luigi and Giovanna Palermo, she was predeceased by her brothers; Hugo (Carm), Ralph (Nellie), George (Kathleen), John (Peg), Frank and Alfred, also her mother/father-in-law Julia and Guy Fusco, sister in laws Irene (Robert) Dewitt, Dorothy Fusco and brother-in-law Raymond Fusco. Viewing Copeland’s Moon Township 981 Brodhead Road on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Prayers of Transfer and farewells 9:00 AM Tuesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret Mary Church. Interment Coraopolis Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers family suggests donations to PA Special Olympics or to charity of your choice in Jean's memory.
