Susan (Rosa) DeRuyter Vagasy, age 96, went to be with her Lord on Christmas Day 2017. She was born November 1, 1921 to the late Paul and Julia Rosa. Susan was widowed from Paul DeRuyter and Edward Vagasy. In addition to her parents and her spouses, she was preceded in death by siblings, Albert Rosa, Paul Rosa, Steve Rosa, Ann Vig, Pearl Kupets, Irene Keblis and Julie Rosa. Beloved mother of Paul DeRuyter (Karen) of Saxonburg, Susan Anne Vandervort (Doug) of Sewickley and John DeRuyter (Denice) of Neville Island; cherished grandmother of Jamie DeRuyter of Sarasota, FL, Ryan Vandervort (Christine) of Cranberry, Autumn DeRuyter (fiancé Greg Kepplinger) and Amanda Prosdocimo (Joe); loving great grandmother of Reagan Vandervort, Aiden Kepplinger and Julianna Prosdocimo; sister of Margaret Chuboy, Mary Larence and Shaun Rosa (Judy) all of Perryopolis. Susan was a “Rosie the Riveter”, a welder of the LST’s during WWII. She also was very involved in dry cleaning as co-owner of Paul’s Cleaner’s in Carnegie, and later working for Red Cap cleaning in Crafton and Van Balen’s in Coraopolis. A caring and kind person, her forte was cooking and of course, encouraging family and friends to eat, eat, eat. She had a wonderful sense of humor. Her life surrounded her family and she was so proud to be a grandmother and great grandmother. Visitation Thursday 2-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Friday at 10 AM. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
