Il S. “Soni” Hunter, 87, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019 in the comfort of her home and her caring family. Soni was born in Kyungnam, Korea on September 9, 1932. At an early age, Soni was raised by her aunt. Her journey was that of a caregiver to her aunt’s family. Something wonderful happened when she met the love of her life, John “Jack” Howard Hunter, Sr., US Army on assignment in Korea. On March 22, 1960, she married Jack Hunter, Sr. who brought her home to America where they made their home in the Robinson area. They enjoyed much happiness in their 45 years together, raising their family and riding around on their motorcycle. Sadly, Jack passed on August 14, 2005. Soni is survived by her devoted children Judy (Jim) Whitcomb and Jack (Lois) Hunter, Jr.; her cherished grandchildren Tyler (Abby) Hunter and Garrett Hunter; her well-loved great grandchildren Callan and Easton. Soni, even at the age of 87, was engaged with life. She enjoyed Bingo, gardening, cooking and especially rescuing injured animals. Please join the family as they celebrate Soni’s life on Saturday, December 14 with a memorial visitation from 10 AM until time of memorial service at 11:15 AM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Rev. Dr. Thomas Petrosky will officiate.
