Sarah Brooks Obituary

Sarah (Sally) Brooks, 103 of Sewickley is reunited with her husband Herbert and son Theodore who predeceased her in 1982 and 2009. Sarah was born in Rochester on Christmas Day 1914 the daughter of Elmer P. Angel and Sarah Prudence Leech. After leaving her childhood home in Baden she attended the State Teachers College in Indiana, PA., where she met her future husband, they married in 1938 and made their home in Moon Township until moving to Sewickley in 1979 where her life revolved around church, family and friends, she lived independently till her passing. Sally was a tireless advocate of quality public education, first teaching English in the Ambridge School District 1938, later she enjoyed visiting Brooks Elementary in Moon which was named in honor of her husband a former superintendent of Moon Schools.  She was committed to educating and providing life skills to children with special needs having been employed by the Allegheny Intermediate Unit at the former Western Hills School. Sally practiced her faith at St. Stephens Church in Sewickley and enjoyed and appreciated the company and support of the many members who continued to visit her in her home even after she was unable to attend. Sally was a wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, confidant, counselor and friend not only to her family but many. Her door was always open. Sally was predeceased by her husband Herb, son Ted, Brother William Angel and nephew David Angel. She is survived by her son Daniel (Loretta) Brooks, grandson Mark Brooks, his children Brianna, Marissa and Clara all of Sewickley. Granddaughter Beth (Dale) Sanford their sons Elijah and Ethan of San Diego, CA, grandson John (Christine) Brooks their children Georgia and John of Groton, MA. Daughter- in- Law Lynette Brooks, grandson Benjamin Brooks of Mt. Lebanon and granddaughter Amanda (Matt) Pittner of Olmsted Falls, OH. Nephew’s William, John, and James Angel. Honoring her wishes there will be no visitation. Interment will be private.
