Raymond Leslie Teamor
November 30, 1919 – December 15, 2019
Raymond Leslie Teamor was born on November 30, 1919 in Coraopolis, PA to Mary and Linwood Teamor and passed away on December 15, 2019 in Coconut Creek, FL. He graduated from Coraopolis Senior High School in 1938. Raymond was in the US Army from February 2, 1943 until his discharge on February 1, 1946. While in the Army, he was assigned to the 395th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion in the South Pacific in New Guinea where he achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. He attended Hampton Institute in Summer of 1946 in Hampton, Virginia.
After his discharge, he worked as a steel inspector for the Continental Roll and Steel Company. In 1948, he moved to Cleveland where he married Florence Acy and worked as a Benefit Specialist at the Federal Reserve Bank.
Raymond was a lifetime member of the NAACP and served under Julian Bond as a member of the Chairman Circle.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Dorothy Shackelford, and brothers Edward, William, Jameson, Howard, Robert, and Herbert. He leaves behind nieces Geraldine Shackelford, Jilianne Adesokan, Patty (Earl) Wiggs, Evelyn Hampton, Belinda Washington, nephews Louis C. Shackelford III (Linda), William (Zandra), Robert (Geraldine), Jack (Jeanette), Alfred and Howard (Elizabeth) Teamor.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 8 from 9 – 11 AM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave.
