Ralph E. Schoemer, would capture you with his striking blue eyes that would just sparkle, a man with strong work ethic and with a song in his heart, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at UPMC Passavant at the age of 91. Ralph was a Moon Township resident since 1960. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 2, 1927, one of six to the late Jacob and Clara (Gurtner) Schoemer. Ralph met the love of his life, Thelma, at Spears Department Store, where they both had worked. They married at the tender ages of 20 and 19. This lasting relationship grew a beautiful family of four wonderful children, 6 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Beloved husband for 51 years to Thelma (Brown) Schoemer who preceded him in death on May 16, 1999. Loving father of Ralph (Carol) Schoemer of Robinson Township, Correne (Wayne) Roode of E. Brookfield, MA, Dr. Pamela L. Schoemer of Moon Township and the late Betsy Lynch; adored grandfather of Geoff (Diane) Schoemer, Erik Schoemer, Doug (Robyn) Roode, Brian (Amy) Roode, Heather Roode, and Jennifer Price; also 8 cherished great grandchildren; brother of Floyd Schoemer of Pittsburgh and the late Ruth, Audrey, Charles and Margaret; fondly called Uncle Buddy by many loving nieces and nephews. From Spears Department Store, his career in furniture sales continued with Evankos in both Coraopolis and Moon and he retired from Wickes in Robinson. Ralph proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. Ralph loved his family – cherishing each generation, loved his yard, loved to garden. His specialty, red roses. Memorial visitation Copeland's Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 11 AM until time of service at 2 PM. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in his name to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
