Nelson M. Cumpston, a dedicated family man and life-long resident of Coraopolis, passed away on Monday July 24,2017 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh on October 26, 1938.  Beloved husband for 57 years to Sally (Seymour) Cumpston; loving father of Timothy Alan Cumpston of Delhi, NY, Colleen Erin Sneed (Randy) of Atlanta, GA and Natalie Faith McKenna (Eric) of Coraopolis; proud grandfather of 8, Joshua, Paige and Chloe Sneed, Sierra, Damian and Saffron Neft, and Tyler and Dylan Cumpston; brother of the late Joseph Yost; devoted son of Rose Effie (Spezialette) Cumpston. Nelson was a1957 graduate of Coraopolis High School and while working, obtained his BS in Business Administration from Geneva College in 1970. Beginning as a draftsman for Pittsburgh DesMoines, he became recognized for his leadership qualities and was promoted to project manager, a position he also held at Wheelabrator Frye. He also had worked for the PA Department of Transportation and was a member of the Coraopolis Elks and Moose. When his children were growing up, he was present and their strongest supporter at all functions. For his grandchildren, he thoroughly enjoyed watching all of them participate in their sport activities no matter near nor far.  Nelson was the heartbeat of his family who always made them laugh.  He will be greatly missed. Visitation Thursday 2-4,6-9 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where service will be held on Friday at 11 AM. Rev. Mark Heiner will officiate. Entombment will follow in Coraopolis Cemetery
