Nancy Lee (Koontz) Nester Stewart, age 89, dance instructor extraordinaire, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2018 at Frick Hospital. She made her home in Bear Rocks and Coraopolis. Nancy was born on October 29, 1928 in Warren, OH, the only child of James Earl and Rema Kathryn (Thirwechter) Koontz. Nancy was married to two wonderful men that preceded her in death: Don Nester and Louis N. Stewart, Jr. Nancy Lee owned and operated Nancy Lee School of Dance in Coraopolis from 1945 until the early 70’s. It was family run, with her mother as the business woman and overseen by her father and Don of course was there as support. She had recitals every year that the whole town turned out for and were all recorded, courtesy of Dr. Frank R. Braden, picture historian of Coraopolis. Nancy Lee touched many lives in Coraopolis and her dance students were the children of her life. As we pick our friends, Nancy Lee has a legacy of loving friends: Joyce and James George, considered as sister and brother, Norma Thomas, Edward (Marcy) Hanna; Godmother of Heather Frenz and Jay George; step-mother of Valerie (Bill) DelMonaco and Mark M. Stewart; step-grandmother of Justin McGregor, Patrick McGregor II and Travis M. Stewart. Memorial Visitation Monday 10 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:30 AM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd., her pastor, Rev. Bob Huber will officiate. Nancy’s cremated remains will be place later with her husband Don at Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Nancy was active and loved her church. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Mt. Pleasant Church of God, 936 W. Main St. Mt. Pleasant, PA 15666.
