Michael J. “Magical Myke” Stefanick, age 44, of Neville Island died peacefully on January 18, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved son of Peggy (Richert) and the late John M. Stefanick and loving brother to Colleen Talton. He was a wonderful uncle to Desiree and Alexis Talton and Alena Ishman and adored nephew to Linda Richert. He is also survived by his Uncle Rick, Aunt Debbie, and cousins Greg, and Ashley Richert and Aunt Maryann Stefanick Waldby, Uncle Bob Waldby, and cousins Kristina (Dale) Van Megroet and Josh (Christine) Waldby and their children. He will also be truly missed by many relatives and by Shelley Smith and her Maryland family. He was especially close to Leonard Paczan, his cousin. Magic Myke was known and loved by countless people he met at the RMU Ice Rink Bistro, where he worked for over 12 years. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile, a joke, and a magic trick for everyone. Myke never said a mean thing about anyone and was the most loving, gentle, selfless, and caring person who remained positive every day of his life. Myke survived a brain tumor at age 13 and was given 30 more years during which he spread love and joy to everyone he met. He lived every day to the fullest and always did for others. He was loved and admired by all who knew him. He changed and improved the lives of those he touched. Magic Myke had a heart of gold and a beautiful soul. He will be remembered and missed by everyone who knew him. He and his family spent 18 years working with the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, collecting over $150,000 to fight cancer.
Friends will be received at R.D. Copeland funeral home in Coraopolis, Sunday 2-8 pm and Monday 2-8 pm with funeral services on Tuesday at 10 am. Donations in his memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
