Margaret A. (Polley) Crock

Margaret (Anderson) Crock, known and loved by all as Marnie, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Marian Hall Personal Care Home at the age of 83.

She was born in Buffalo, NY on October 21, 1933 and a resident of Sewickley, PA for most of her life. She was the daughter of the late J. Mitchell and Esther Cooley Anderson. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert P. Crock, October on 28, 1976 and her sister Esther A. Anderson of Erie, PA on August 25, 2010.

She is survived by three children: Kevin Crock of Palm City, FL, Anthony Crock of Palm Coast, FL and his wife Kathleen and Katrina Woodworth of Pittsburgh, PA and her husband Brandon. Her blessings continued with 7 grandchildren: Nicolle Crock, Madeline Warrington, and Christopher Crock, Kyra Woodworth, Elena Woodworth, Alex Woodworth and Zach Woodworth as well as 3 step grandchildren, Jessica Hixon and husband Drew, Katie Lankowski and husband Mike, Teresa Schwarzkopf and husband Dan. She added the joy of 11 great grandchildren.

Marnie was a graduate of Oldfields School in Glencoe, MD and Catherine Gibb’s Secretarial School in Boston, MA.  Marnie, an astute business woman, opened The Sewickley Frame Shop in her basement in 1974. As the business grew, she acquired the building at 549 Beaver St. and moved The Sewickley Frame shop its current store-front location. She sold the business in 2000, however she continued to operate as landlord for the three apartments and two businesses. After retiring, Marnie worked at the gift shop of Heritage Valley Hospital of Sewickley. She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Church, serving as a Lay Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was a member of Sewickley Chamber of Commerce, Child Health Association of Sewickley, Audubon Society, the Edgeworth Club and the Junior League of Pittsburgh.

Marnie was an avid gardener and when not working could be found digging in her gardens. In the winter, Marnie loved to knit. She also loved to entertain, sharing hospitality with family and friends. She loved to vacation  near water, especially Presque Isle, Litchfield Beach/Pawleys Island, South Carolina and the Thousand Islands in upstate New York where she enjoyed boating and fishing.

Please join us as we celebrate Marnie’s life at St. Stephen’s Church, 405 Frederick Ave., Sewickley, PA 15143 on July 29 at 2:00. A reception will follow. Burial will be private at Sewickley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to Kenya Christian Education Program (KCEP).
