Kristin M. Schmitt

Kristin Mary (Schreiber) Schmitt passed into eternal life at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday, January 16, 2020. She was 58.

Born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 1, 1961, Kristin was the second child of John Joseph Schreiber and Helen Frances (Cook) Schreiber.  She graduated from Pasco (WA) High School in 1979 and Duquesne University in 1989.

She married Mitchell Jon Schmitt from Annawan, IL, on December 31, 1993. They had no children.

She retired on disability in 2016 from a career in executive administration and human resources. She loved animals and was an adoptive parent to numerous rescued dogs and cats. A lifelong performing arts enthusiast, her early training in ballet extended to a love of dance and theater. She was also a skilled quilt-maker whose extraordinary creations graced the homes of her family and loved ones.

Kristin is survived by her mother, Helen Schreiber, and three siblings: John Terrence Schreiber, Maura Anne (Schreiber) Schreiner and Colette Mary Schreiber. In addition, she is survived by her fiancé, Stanley Maryknowski, her aunt, Elizabeth (Schreiber) Durban, and her niece and nephew, Jessica and Jared Schreiner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mitchell Schmitt and her father, John Schreiber.

Visitation will be at St. Malachy Catholic Church, 343 Forest Grove Road, Coraopolis (Kennedy Township), PA from 9:30 - 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 23, followed by funeral Mass of Christian Burial with Father Dave Poecking officiating. Private interment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery, 100 Resurrection Road, Moon Township, PA.
