James P. Altman, age 80, a Moon Township resident since 1964, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at UPMC Montefiore. He was born in Pittsburgh on August 15, 1936 to the late George and Cecelia (Miller) Altman. On August 12, 2004, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 41 yrs., Elizabeth (Becker)Altman. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Grace Bauer, and brothers George, Paul, and John Altman. Loving father of James E. (Stephanie) Altman, David M. (Jennifer) Altman, and Daniel J.(Tina) Altman; cherished grandfather of Jessica N., Christopher J., Zachary D., Alyssa E., Anthony G. and Dominic J. Altman; brother of Robert (Carol) Altman; brother-in-law of James Bauer, Nancy Altman, and Mary Altman. James was a life-long member of St. Joseph Church. His machinist career began with Pittsburgh DesMoines where he was a foreman for 36 years retiring in 1988 and continued with Trinity Steel in McKees Rocks, retiring in 2002. James served in the U.S. Army. Visitation Sunday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where prayers will be recited on Monday at 9:00 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Church at 9:30 AM, Father Richard Jones, celebrant. Entombment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.  Because of his gift of 20 blessed years due to his transplant, the family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts for James P.
