Gertrude S. (Smith) Conniff

Trudy (Gertrude) Smith Conniff, 88, a Moon Township resident since 1963, passed away on Thursday, June 21, 2018 surrounded by the love of her family. Trudy was one of eight born to the late Bernard F. and Rose Elizabeth McCarthy Smith. She was preceded in death on December 25, 1991 by her husband of 37 years, John G. Conniff. Beloved mother of Christine Galuska (Tom) of Wake Forest, NC, Helen Johnston (Dave) of Holly Ridge, NC, David Conniff of Burnsville, MN, Patrick Conniff (Cathie) of Ft. Thomas, KY and Eileen Conniff of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; cherished grandmother of Marie Contosta, Steven Johnston, Greg Galuska, Zach Galuska, Ben Conniff, Ellie Conniff, Danielle Marzullo, and Crystal Marzullo; proud great grandmother of Dominick, Alana, and Donald; cherished sister of Mary Helen Noud, Sister Clare Smith, RSM, and the late  Eleanor Jane Parker, Marjorie Rose Monteith, Dorothy Martin, Mary Frances Hartland and William “Bill” Smith. Trudy was a faithful member of St. Margaret Mary Church and MASCA who loved to attend Broadway Shows and the Opera in Pittsburgh. “Aunt Snappy Pants”, always well-dressed, loved to dine out every Friday or whenever. Trudy was very loved and respected by her children. Those who knew Trudy well, admired her meticulous cleanliness, sense of order and her strong opinion which was never held back. Someone said that she is probably putting Heaven in order right now. She will be greatly missed because she was well-loved. Visitation Sunday 2-4, 7-9 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where prayers of transfer will be recited on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 AM. Father Frank Kurimsky, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Spinal Cord Injury Foundation.
