Doreen (Ewart) Hinkley, of Moon Township, passed away, peacefully, the day after her 92nd birthday, on Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Shelbourne Personal Care, in Butler. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on May 15, 1926, the first of four to the late George Alfred and Lillian Theresa (Dorrell) Ewart. In addition to her parents, Doreen was preceded in death by her husband Johnston M. "Jack" Hinkley and her daughter Patricia H. Oglesbee. Loving mother of William A. (Akiko) Hinkley of Redondo Beach, CA; mother-in-law of Brian C. Oglesbee of Norwalk, OH; grandmother to Elizabeth (Daniel) Richardson, Mary Caroline Oglesbee, Kyle (Hinkley) Walblay, Joel Hinkley and Renee Saya Hinkley; great grandmother of Cohen and Kaiden Richardson and Lily Oglesbee and Hadley and Gavin Walblay; cherished sister of Elaine D. Read of Butler, Marjorie C. Millard of Victoria, British Columbia and James M. Ewart of N. Vancouver, British Columbia. Doreen was a long-time member of Sharon Community Presbyterian Church. She had been a secretary for Pittsburgh Des Moines Steel Corp., secretary for Moon Area High School 1970-1974 and worked as a vision technician for West Hills Vision Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11 AM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. with her son-in-law, Rev. Brian C. Oglesbee officiating. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Park.
