David F. Murphy, a Coraopolis resident since 1980, formerly of Brookline, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 17, 2018 at Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was born in Pittsburgh on July 11, 1944 to the late Peter F. and Mary Ellen (Rhodes) Murphy. Beloved husband for 47 years to Karen (Klepal) Murphy; loving father of David “Bunk” Murphy (Allison) of Coraopolis and Brie Griffin (Jermaine) of Centreville, VA; proud grandfather of Grant, Isla and Demi; cherished brother of Maureen Herward (Patrick) of Cecil Township, Bill Schratz (Diana) of Bethel Park and the late Edward Murphy, Gregory Murphy, Thomas and Jack Schratz; brother-in-law of June Murphy of Arizona. David was retired from Moon Township Water Authority after 25 years of service. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church, Knights of Columbus and Beaver County Woodworking Club. David, a creative artist with wood, was a woodworker extraordinaire. He will be remembered as a quiet gentle man who was well-loved as a husband, father, grandfather and brother. Please keep us in prayer as we journey through this great loss. So, as its done, “the Murphy Way”, have a Scotch, listen to eclectic music and sit back quietly in your chair. Visitation Monday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where prayers will be recited on Tuesday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at St. Joseph Church 10 AM. Father Frank Kurimsky, celebrant. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Knights of Columbus.
