Austin E. McGrath, 103, formerly of Sewickley, on December 16, 2019 at his home in the Masonic Village. Austin was born in Pittsburgh, PA to the late Austin E. and Jeannette (Hager) McGrath. In 1939, he graduated from Duquesne University with a BA in Business Administration. When World War II broke out, he served his country honorably as a U.S. Navy Seabee. Austin worked as an accountant for Dravo Corporation, Pressed Steel Car Company, and the IRS where he rose through the ranks and retired as a senior accountant in the appeals division. Austin was a devout Catholic, serving as an usher, money counter, and charter member of the 55+ Group at St. James Church in Sewickley. Austin’s commitment to his faith and service to his church was recognized by Bishop Zubik in 2015 when he was awarded the Manifesting the Kingdom Award. He was also a charter member of the Sewickley Senior Men’s Club. Austin was preceded in death by his beloved and devoted wife of 66 years Mary (Meyer) McGrath, his loving and doting son Paul A. McGrath, sister Anna Mary (McLaughlin), brother Martin H. and his dear friend Janice Murphy. He is survived by his four devoted grandchildren Alyssa Anne, Paul Sean, Casey Austin (Eleni) and Maggie Jeannette McGrath (Seth); his cherished daughter-in-law Leslie (Ogg) McGrath; along with many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Visitation Sunday 12-6 PM at COPELAND’S SEWICKLEY, 702 Beaver St. with prayer on Monday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at St. James Church Sewickley at 10 AM. Rev. Thomas J. Burke celebrant. Burial will follow at Christ Our Redeemer Cemetery with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to St. James School or Masonic Village at Sewickley
