Shawn P Smith, Sr.

Shawn P. Smith, Sr., 58, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, April 4, 2024. He was born in Youngstown, OH on July 25, 1965, one of four sons to the late Thomas and Patricia (Brady) Smith Hall. Husband of Linda Borawski Smith; loving father of Jordan Theofilos (Kyrsa), Shawn P. Smith, Jr. (Abigail) and Shannon Lee Smith (Gage Slide); grandfather of Arya, Shawn III, and Hazel; brother of Thomas Smith (Colleen) and Joseph Smith; his well-loved UPMC Cranberry Work Family; and many friends. Shawn spent his younger years in Brookfield, OH, graduating from Brookfield High School, class of 1984. He had attended CCAC and went on to graduate from St. Francis Hospital, Respiratory School. For many years, he worked at St. John’s Specialty Care in their Respiratory Department. For the past years, he had worked at UPMC Cranberry. Shawn proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, a legacy that his sons carry today. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his avid following of Notre Dame Football and of course, he just loved all the Pittsburgh Sports whether it was the Steelers, Penguins, or the Pirates. His favorite time of year was when the College Bowl games flooded all the TV Stations. A memorial visitation for Shawn will be held at the R.D. Copeland Funeral Home, 981 Brodhead Rd, Moon Twp, on Friday, April 12th from 1pm until the time of his memorial service at 3 pm. In addition to his services in Moon Twp, PA, Shawn will be interred at the Brookfield Twp Cemetery in Brookfield, OH on Saturday, April 13th at 1pm with military honor’s being rendered there. Everyone is encouraged to attend either, or both portions of his arrangements.
