William D. Leap, Jr., a proud U. S. Marine Veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War, age 73, of Hopewell formerly of McKees Rocks, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was born in Pittsburgh on May 19, 1943 to the late Evelyn (Renney) and William D. Leap, Sr. Beloved husband and best friend  for 37 yrs of Donna Jean (Zarin) Leap; loving father of James (Nicole) Zarin and Evelyn (Michael) Cook; devoted grandfather of Logan and Lacey Zarin; brother of Christine Rizzo, Sue Naughton, Debra Pendergast and the late Carol Oswald, Richard and Christopher Leap; son-in-law of James and the late Dorothy Zarin; brother-in-law of Diane Allen, Debbie Zarin and Doreen Metcalf. William was a member of VFW Post 402, Coraopolis and the American Legion Post 2, Sewickley. As a truck driver, he was a member of Teamsters Local #273. He enjoyed fishing, go-carts, dirt track racing, classic trucks, and an occasional beer but most of all just being with his grandchildren. Visitation Monday 2-4, 7-9 (VFW Service at 7:30 PM) at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where service will be held on Tuesday at 1 PM. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors. Family suggests donations if desired in his name to the Wounded Warriors Project.
