Tim O’Rourke, the only son of the late Roy and Martha (Ford) O’Rourke, passed away at his home in Moon Township, on Friday, July 28, 2017. He was born in Sewickley on June 25, 1956. He grew up in Moon Township, graduating from Moon Area High School in 1974 where he excelled in academics and football. Tim obtained his B.S. in Political Science from Juanita College, where he participated in both college football and rugby. A recognized honor, he was accepted to Wake Forest Law School in North Carolina. Thereby making his home in North Carolina where he was proudly raising his sons who still live in Greensboro and Charlotte, NC, Patrick and Michael O'Rourke. He is also survived by his companion and best friend for 21 years, Kathy Smith who makes her home with him in both North Carolina and Moon Township. When Tim’s father took sick, he was honored to return to Moon Township and care for his dad. Tim, an outdoor person, enjoyed camping, white water rafting and hunting.  He also had a passion for the culinary arts, whether it be grilling, smoking or just trying a new recipe and sharing his new creation with family and friends. However, his quiet side showed his appreciation for nature, animals, and gardening. Tim was a great father, physically there for his sons and their sporting events, anywhere from football, hockey, baseball, basketball or even a good game of chess. Both his sons agreed, with smiles, that he couldn’t beat them anymore at chess or athletics. Visitation Friday from 5-7 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. After visitation, a further celebration of his life will continue, place to be decided. If desired, the family suggests donations in his name to the Martha J. O’Rourke Scholarship Fund, c/o Heritage Valley Sewickley Foundation, 701 Broad St., Sewickley, PA 15143.
