Robert L. Purvis, 81 of Sewickley died suddenly on Sunday September 25, 2016. Born November 13, 1934 in Long Beach, CA; he was preceded in death by his parents Robert F. and Hazel M. Purvis, and his sister Toy Purvis. For 57 years he was the beloved husband of Mary Jo (Ingalls) Purvis.  He was the father of Douglas Purvis (Diane) of Richmond, VA; Deanna Purvis (Trish Lane) of Pittsburgh; and adoring grandfather of Hollyann Purvis. Bob graduated from Pepperdine University and served in the United States Coast Guard. He was employed by the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA) for 30 years, and served as President of the Mellon Stuart corporation in Pittsburgh until his retirement.  After retirement Bob enjoyed attending the Pittsburgh Symphony and was an avid fan of Pirates Baseball.  He donated time and energy to the Executive Service Corps and numerous other charitable organizations. A memorial service in celebration of his life will be held at a later date at the Presbyterian Church of Sewickley. Burial arrangements are being made by Copeland’s of Sewickley.
