Philip Painter

Philip R. Painter, age 68, a Moon Township resident since 1993, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospice Beaver. He was born in Lockport, NY on April 28, 1949, son of the late Robert Lester Painter and Valree (Wolf) Lapertosa, and stepson of the late Thomas J. Lapertosa. Beloved husband for 40 years of Lorraine (Bender) Painter; loving father of Philip N. Painter (Beth) of Boston and Sarah Painter of Moon Township; proud grandfather of Evan, Caleb, Bryce and soon to be granddaughter; brother of the late Robert Painter (LaDonna), Roseanne Ingerick (Doug), Patti VanAucker (John), Thomas Lapertosa (Karen), George Painter, Louise Pohlman (Don), and Mark Painter (Debbie). Philip was a graduate of Spartan School of Aeronautics for A & P Mechanic. His airline career began with Eastern Airlines in 1979 and continued in 1990 with U.S. Airways.  He was a member of the Potomac Lodge #1976 IAM. Philip proudly served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Forrestal CV-59 during the Vietnam War. During his life, Philip enjoyed bicycling, scuba diving, cooking, and taking care of his home. He cultivated a love of music and liked playing and watching sports. He loved his wife, he loved the ocean and they loved to travel, especially to Alaska and the Caribbean Islands. Philip requested cremation. The family will have a memorial service in Buffalo this spring. In an effort to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease, which Philip had battled, the family suggests donations in his name to Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, UPMC Montefiore, 4W, 200 Lothrop St., Pittsburgh, PA 15213-2582.
