Welcome to the memorial page for

Paul A. Lotz

November 25, 1927 ~ November 25, 2016 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Paul A. Lotz, a good man died peacefully at his home on his 89th birthday, Friday, November 25, 2016. Paul walked joyously through life feeling great love for his family and friends. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and Conrail for 42 years. When he retired, he started a men’s group of North Borough school friends that became known as the “Olde Tymer’s” which has met monthly for 25 years with an annual picnic and Christmas party. He and Jan, his wife of 61 years, camped all of our great country and Canada their entire married life from Labrador and Newfoundland to Alaska. They first concentrated on the exceptional National Parks and monuments, but then traveled the “Blue Highways” for many years seeing small town America where they were welcomed in homes, farms and ranches to share people’s lives. They have lived in the woods on top of that “small mountain” Sycamore Road, Glen Osborne in their wood home built by Paul for 58 years. He loved working with wood and created many beautiful objects large and small. He is survived by his wife Jan, his six much loved nieces and nephews, Tammy Wilson (Mike), Bill Striffler (Cindy), Terri Striffler, Thelma Striffler, Doug Ward (April) and Jim Ward (Joan). Also by nine great nieces and nephews, Bryan Wilson, Brittany Wilson, Bilyl Striffler, Shawn Striffler, Chelsea Striffler, Joey Guido, Matt Puppich, Molly Ward, Sarah Ward and Lori White (Jon) and their children, great-great nephews Caleb and Cameron White. Preceded in death by his mother Leona (Late Virgil) Pemberton, his sisters Thelma (late Jack) Striffler and Mabert Baker. Our eternal thanks to our beloved sister Alice Ward, who never left our side during these last difficult months and to our wonderful friends and neighbors especially the Churms, Lydon’s, Sadd’s, Torchia’s, Browns, Atwood’s and Muder’s. We could also never have managed without the loving care and support given by the Good Samaritan Hospice nurses and aides: Lynne, Cheryl, Meg, Amanda, Laura and others. A gathering of friends and family will be held on Tuesday December 6 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Copeland’s of Sewickley, 702 Beaver Street to celebrate Paul’s life. There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Wexford, PA 15090.
