Mary (Asturi) Sauro, age 83, a 17-year resident of Potomac, MD formerly of Sewickley, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly in Potomac, MD on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. She was born in Pittsburgh on November 2, 1933 to the late Joseph and Teresa Asturi. In 1983, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 22 years, Mario Sauro and in 2007 her son, “Lee” Liseo Joseph Sauro. Cherished mother of Connie (Mark) Gessler of Potomac, MD and Carmen Sauro of Rockville, MD; well-loved grandmother of Hannah, Kurt, Madeline and Samantha; sister of Palma Silvaggio and Anthony Asturi both of Pittsburgh. Mary was a member of St. James Church, Sewickley and Our Lady of Mercy of Potomac, MD. Mary was a loving mother and grandmother who cherished family and traditions. She will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit and dearest nature. She was known for her cooking for the family which she thoroughly enjoyed. Her gentle smile will be missed by everyone who knew her. Visitation Sunday 2-4, 7-9 at Copeland’s Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. where prayers will be recited on Monday at 10:30 AM followed by Mass at 11:00 AM at St. James Church. Father Joseph Carr, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. James Cemetery.
