Maria DeWyn Menniti, 90, of Sewickley, PA passed away June 1, 2017 surrounded by her children. Maria was born in Heist op den Berg, Belgium. She was the wife of the late Frank M. Menniti whom she met in Belgium during World War II. Her son, Samuel DeWyn Menniti (Constance) preceded her in 2014. Maria was a hard-working woman, even in her 90’s. She enjoyed yard work and took great joy in her garden. She was an excellent seamstress and was schooled in fashion design as a young girl in Belgium. She was stylish and fit. Any handwork she learned was done to perfection; knitting, applique, stained glass making, smocking and decoupage. She had a keen eye for decorating and took great pride in her surroundings. Many family gatherings were enjoyed in her lovely home. She is survived by her sister, Elza Tilemans (Alfons) in Belgium, a son, Peter Menniti (Maria), two daughters, Tina Menniti Herman (Richard) and Marian Carter (Bruce); beloved grandchildren, Justin Carter (Janet), Kelly Anne Carter and John Paul Menniti. Also survived by cousins, nieces and nephews, here and in Belgium. Friends and family received Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Copeland Funeral Home, 702 Beaver Street, Sewickley, PA. Monday Prayers of Transfer 10:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. James Church. Rev. Thomas J. Burke, celebrant. Interment St. James Cemetery, Sewickley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
