Margaret “Marge” (Barna) Monski, age 94, a Neville Island resident since 1930, passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. She was born in Charleroi, PA on Feb. 11, 1924, the oldest of three to the late John and Anna (Yencho) Barna. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother John Barna and her sister Helen Smithburger. Beloved and cherished mother of Nancy Monski Tullar (Kenneth) of Ohio Township, Mary Ann Monski of Neville Island, William Monski, Jr. (Susan) of Glen Osborne, and Peggy Hrvoich (Steve) of Franklin Park; proud grandmother of Evan Monski, Garrett Hrvoich and Sophia Monski; also, several nieces and nephews. Marge, involved in her church and community, was a member of St. Joseph Church, St. James Church, a Christian Mother, a Democratic Committee Woman and served on Neville Island Development, Planning Commission. For 27 years, she worked as a civil servant for the U.S. Army. Marge had also worked in the Office of Cornell High School and Allis-Chalmers (a company that made transformers for Duquesne Light). Marge loved to travel and bowl at the former Corpen Lanes. Visitation Tuesday 8:30 AM until prayers of transfer at 9:20 AM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. followed by Mass at St. James Church at 10 AM. Rev. Thomas J. Burke, celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mark’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to either St. Joseph Church, St. James Church or Neville Township Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank her niece Carol Haus and home care team Cathy and Jennifer Zalucky for their loving care over the past several years.
