Maleet Brooks Gordon, 76, of Sewickley passed away on April 13, 2017. Born Nov 3, 1940 in Sewickley, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Nancy (Cappeau) Brooks. She is survived by her daughter Madelaine Alexander Gordon of Columbus, Ohio and son Frank Brooks Gordon of Lebanon, Ohio and two grandchildren, Kate and Jack Gordon. She is also survived by her brother and sister Frank F. Brooks of Birmingham, Michigan and Elizabeth B. Currier of Hanover, Massachusetts. For many years, Maleet was the dedicated secretary/manager for Glen Osborne borough keeping community services intact. She organized the Sewickley Harvest Festival and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis, and Sewickley Garden Club.
She was educated at The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia, Bennett College of Millbrook, New York and University of Colorado. Further studies include horticulture at the Barnes Foundation of Philadelphia.
Maleet was an enthusiast of horse show competition, garden design, and enjoyed attending concerts, theatre, and lectures with friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 23, 3-5PM at Copeland Funeral Home, 702 Beaver St. Funeral service to be held at the Sewickley Presbyterian Church, 414 Grant Street, on April 24 at 2PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra or Sewickley Presbyterian Church.
