Joseph A. Balogh

Joseph A. Balogh, 92 of Moon Township passed peacefully on Thursday March 22, 2018. Born April 3, 1925 in Sewickley, son of the late Andrew and Ella (Mayors) Balogh, Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Hofacker) Balogh whom he married in 1949. Father of Karin (the late Kenneth) Wernert of Greentree and Alan Balogh of Moon Township; Grandfather of Kelly (Matt) Sauerwein, Jason (Heather) Santo, Alex Balogh and the late Justin Balogh; brother of Mary Regotti of NC, Andrew Balog of NC, and the late Ella McArdle and Thomas Balog. Joe was a WWII veteran of the Navy serving in the Pacific Asiatic Theater. He was a Detective Sergeant with the Moon Township Police Department retiring in 1989. Joe was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church, the VFW Post 402, the Knight of Columbus, the American Legion Post of Sewickley and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a big fan of the television shows Gunsmoke, Blue Bloods and MASH and was an avid fan of the Steeler’s and NASCAR. Visitation Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 PM Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road where prayers of transfer will be said Monday at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church in Moon Township. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Moon Township with full military honors.
