He married the love of his life, Donna (Buccilli) Shubert, and they had a wonderful life of 42 years together. John had been a Flight Engineer and Crew Chief on the C-124 aircraft, and had also been on maintenance teams for C-123 and C-130 aircraft. He was a Chief Master Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves, serving during Desert Shield and participating in missions all over the world including Panama and Germany. John was a member of both the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. One of his favorite pastimes was taking his Thunderbird to car cruises with the Pitt Birds Thunderbird Club. John enjoyed being a handyman and working around his house, loved watching sports, going to concerts and on long car trips with his wife.
