James B. Claytor “Moose”, age 88, of Neville Island, a true man’s man with a gentle soul, loved his family, was larger than life, and just fun to be around. He passed surrounded by the love of his family, on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at his home. He was born on June 15, 1928 in Coraopolis, the only child to the late Duncan and Thelma (Angelo) Weaver. In 1953, he married the love of his life, Lorraine (Nagel) Claytor who passed on December 24, 1998. They had three beloved children: Karen Farago (Samuel), Mark Claytor (Denise) all of Coraopolis and James Claytor (Mary) with whom he made his home on Neville Island; also survived by five cherished grandchildren. Later in life, Moose was blessed to meet Donna Park, his beloved companion, who he shared many of the same interests. Moose was a 1945 graduate of Coraopolis High School. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant First Class during the Korean War, was a Past Commander and member of VFW Post 402. He had been a shop foreman for Dally Engineering. Moose was memorable, dynamic personality and had a smile and eyes that lit up a room. Friends and people were drawn to him, making him the life of the party. He loved ballroom dancing even in his eighties. He went vacationing every year, mostly to Aruba living there for 4 months at a time. He was privileged to meet the President of Aruba who recognized him with his 10 years vacation time (now at least 15 years). He was musically inclined, playing the organ and passing his music ability to his daughter and son. Visitation Saturday (June 17) from 12 PM – 5 PM at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. where a VFW Service will be held at 5 PM with Military Honors. Burial will be private at Resurrection Cemetery.
