Gwendolyn (Witherspoon) Robinson, loved God, loved her family, loved spreading God’s word. Gwendolyn, a Coraopolis resident for the past 10 years, formerly of Wilkinsburg, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 at UPMC Mercy at the age of 69. Daughter of the late Thomas and Lula Moore, she was born in Pittsburgh on March 19, 1948.Beloved wife for 48 years to Lester Robinson; loving mother of Nelva Robinson, Leslie Johnson (Stephen) all of Coraopolis, Melvin Robinson of Carnegie, Dana Robinson of Coraopolis, Stephanie Robinson of Aliquippa, DeAira Robinson , and Jay Kira Robinson both of Coraopolis; cherished grandmother of Joshua Brown and Eve Robinson; proud great grandmother of Rayden, Isabella and Ava Brown; sister of Patricia Meade, Charlene(Brad) Howard, Debbie Wright, Raymond (Dorothy) Weatherspoon, James Weatherspoon, Lionel (Paula) Weatherspoon, Janine Weatherspoon, Evans Weatherspoon, and the late Evans Weatherspoon, Richard Weatherspoon and the late Ronald Jones. Gwendolyn, a graduate of Canon McMillan High School obtained her L.P.N. from West Penn Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1970. But her calling was not nursing, it was the ministry of God’s Word. Gwendolyn graduated from the Holy Presence and Zion Ministries of Pittsburgh and was ordained by Rev. Patricia Thomas. God blessed her with the gift of music which she chose to share in her music ministry.She was contracted to sing and play her guitar at many local churches and retirement homes. She even began a children’s ministry at her own home. She was a musical evangelist doing God’s work as an angel here on earth. Visitation Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Coraopolis, 867 Fifth Ave. Further visitation on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018 from 10 AM until time of service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Homewood Cemetery.
