Gail I. Aikens, 81 of Moon Township passed away on Saturday July 8, 2017. Born July 24, 1935 in Transfer, PA son of the late Lawrence & Mary Esther (Brumburg) Aikens; Beloved husband of 25 yrs to Gail (Shoemaker) Gallagher Aikens; Father of Ronald (Patricia), Richard (Kathy) and Mark (Carey) Aikens, all of Center Twp.; step father of Mary Jayne (Dave) McGinnes of Carlisle, PA and Thomas V. Gallagher of Monroeville; grandfather of Justin, Suzanne (Ryan) Parsons, Kristen, Brandon, Michael, Madison, Lacey, Leah and Tyler; Brian & Kyle McGinnes and Brendan Gallagher, brother of James and Ron Aikens both of Franklin, PA, Garnett Haggerty in Tempe, AZ and Vern (Cathy) Long of Elizabeth, PA and the late Gar, Merle, Virginia, Lawrence, Jane, John, Dolly, and Wanda Aikens; also survived by his nieces Esther Shull and Linda Swaney. Gail served proudly in the Airforce and Airforce Reserves, he was a lead mechanic in maintenance for US Airways (the former Allegheny Airlines). Visitation Wednesday Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Road from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Thursday Prayers of Transfer 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Church in Moon Township; Interment to follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies with full military honors accorded.
