Ella (Balogh) McArdle, age 101, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2017 with her family present. She made her home at the Villa St. Joseph in Baden on Dec. 29, 2014. Known as the “Queen” of the Villa, she joined every social event and was active in the Villa Voices Choir. She was a founding member of St. Margaret Mary Church of Moon Township and their Women’s Guild. Ella was also a member of the Sewickley Hospital Auxiliary, Moon Democratic Committee, Robert Morris University Independents and the Traveler’s Aid Society. For over 40 years, she was food service manager for the Moon School District. She was born in Pittsburgh on August 9, 1915 to the late Andrew and Ella (Mayoros) Balogh. In 1975, she was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, James McArdle. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia McArdle Cullen and her brother Thomas Balog. Beloved mother of Kathleen (Richard)Swenson of St. Paul, MN; cherished grandmother of Amy Cronin of Presto, Nancy (Clif) Graves of Littleton, CO and Thomas “Jay” (Tracey) Cullen of Bradford Woods, PA; great grandmother of Jeffrey & Jacob Cronin of Presto and Katie, Carolyn, Sean and Ella Cullen all of Bradford Woods; sister of Mary Regotti of Camden, NC, Joseph Balogh of Moon Township and Andrew Balog of Camden, NC. Visitation Tuesday 2-4, 6-8 at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. where prayers will be recited on Wednesday at 9:30 AM followed by Mass at St. Margaret Mary Church at 10 AM. Father Frank Kurimsky will officiate. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to The Guiding Eyes for the Blind or Sisters of St. Joseph, 1020 State St., Baden, PA 15005.
