My heartfelt sympathy to all of the Maratta family. Your husband ,dad ,and pap was a great ly respected surgeon and family man. He left a proud legacy that is like no other. I loved his personality and down to earth attitude. I worked with him in the O.R. for 40 years , so there is a deep void without his prescence. RIP and fly with the angels Dr. Maratta! You will be missed!

To all the family of Dr. Maratta, he was the most respected man I had the privileged to have known. He was my doctor who did a few surgeries on me, which I wouldn't have trusted to any other. I am sorry to hear of Dr. Maratta's untimely passing. You have my deepest sympathy.
He was well respected by those of us on the medical staff, the hospital personnel, and his patients. And I learned first hand how immensely proud he was of his children and grandchildren. When I asked him a couple years ago about how things were going for you since your move from Pittsburgh, he had an ear to ear grin as he told me Jack and Alfie now had two baby sisters.
Dr. Maratta was an excellent surgeon and an excellent family man. He will be missed by many.

I am saddened to hear of Dr. Maratta's passing. When I worked at SVH , 1980-1995 I always enjoyed talking to him when he made rounds. He was always a kind and friendly man, so down to earth. More Dr.'s need to be like him. I'm sure he will be missed. Prayers for his family!

I worked with Dr. Maratta for the last 7 years @ SVH. He was not just a dedicated doctor & surgeon to his patients. He so selflessly gave them his utmost comfort & love that resonated to all who knew him and worked with him. His memory will live strong in my mind and in my heart. But most importantly to all of his patients that he touched & healed in his career as a doctor, mentor & friend. Carolyn, I can't begin to tell you how sorry we are. Jan and you have helped us out more than I could ever imagine anyone doing. I guess he is out of a job because there is no sickness or pain in heaven, but I'm sure he'll find something to do there. We will never forget him. He can rest up now and have fun. I can't tell you how very sorry I was to learn of Jan's passing. For over 57 years he was someone that I knew and respected. He never failed to be available whenever I asked something of him. His quiet presence in the hospital was always comforting. Simply knowing him, made my life more pleasant.
