Cleo E. Lawrence married the love of her life, Leroy, who was taken from this earthly life on June 20, 2017. Their 52-year bond of marriage was so great, that she joined him on Friday, November 24, 2017 from Good Samaritan Hospice House. She was 76. Cleo and Leroy made their home in Ash, NC for 17 years, and were former residents of Sewickley. Cleo was born in Bellevue on December 10, 1940. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother Helen Clifford and her brother Raymond Penfield. Cleo was the loving mother of Colleen Kardasz (Larry) and Constance Lawrence all of Sewickley; cherished grandmother of Lonney (Karin), Jesse, Candace, Melissa, Ivory (Jason), Daniel (Julie), Trevor (Charlene), Kendrew, Lauren and Sean; great grandmother to 5; sister of Henry "Joe" Penfield (Linda) of Zelienople and Catherine Henkins of Phoenix, AZ. Cleo began her business, Lawrence Upholstery, in 1976 and operated it until her retirement in 1999. It was located on Glenfield Rd. in Sewickley. Cleo was a member and served as Wedding Co-Ordinator for both Calabash Presbyterian Church in N.C. and Mt. Nebo Presbyterian Church. Additionally, at Mt. Nebo, she was Clerk of Sessions for 13 consecutive years. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, the Brunswick Quilters, and a lifetime member of the Grange. She was a supporter of her children and took a role in all her children’s activities. Cleo loved all kinds of crafts. She was tireless and will be remembered as a take charge person. Memorial visitation Tuesday 5 PM until time of service at 7 PM, Copeland’s Sewickley, 702 Beaver St. Her nephew, Rev. Kirk O’Neill, will officiate.
