Beverley D. (Schombert) Howard, as part of the “Greatest Generation”, proudly served her country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII as Corporal. Born on Christmas Day in 1923 in Springdale, PA, and promptly placed under the Christmas Tree, as a surprise for her brothers who preceded her in death, Jack and George Schombert, she was the daughter of the late Thomas John and Sarah Elizabeth (Yaste) Schombert. Beverley passed on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospice House at the age of 93. She was the cherished mother of Carol Howard and Thomas Howard with whom she made her home in Moon Township since 1972, formerly of Robinson Township. Beverley was well love aunt to twins: Jane Bozza of St. Simons Island, GA and John (Linda) Schombert of Coraopolis; and great aunt of Kevin (Rene) Schombert and Janelle Marie (Carter) Wood; great great aunt of Sarah (Cory) Rectenwald, Jessica Schombert and Priscilla Wood. Beverley worked for Allegheny County collecting the landing fees for all aircrafts at the old Greater Pittsburgh International Airport. Beverley was a faithful member of Sharon Community Presbyterian Church where she was part of Willing Workers. She also was the Democratic Committee Women for Robinson Township and member of VFW Post 402. Her hobby was quilting. She will be greatly missed and remembered as a caring mother, not just to her children, but to all her family. Visitation Monday 2-4, 6-8 PM, with Fraternal VFW Post 402 at 7PM at Copeland’s Moon Township, 981 Brodhead RD. Funeral service will be Tuesday at 11:30 AM at Sharon Community Presbyterian Church, 522 Carnot Rd., Moon Township, PA 15108 (Please meet at church). Rev. Becky Branch-Trevathan will officiate. Burial will follow in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations in her name to the Epilepsy Foundation of Western Central PA.
